Uh-oh…

So, who wants to go plant a church?

I just spent a few hours this morning with my friend Clayton. We were talking about planting a church in Eugene, Oregon… While I know nothing about Oregon, or Eugene, I am still intrigued and excited by the possibility. It sounds like we might be on to something here… It would seem that he and I view church stuff the same way, and we might be a decent gift match… how scary is that?

I would ask for your prayers as I wade through what could be an exciting, and scary, season of wrestling….

  1. Why would you plant a church and end up having to deal with the same issues that caused you to leave? You have a congregation all around you already. Why not plant yourself where you are at. After all in todays world, you probably wouldn’t find Jesus inside a church building. He would probably be selling cars. :)

  2. Or, we could plant a church with a healthier culture…

I understand what you are saying about Jesus selling cars, I would agree with that to an extent. I just think that there is a way to do church that is missional, authentic, and it has a culture of reaching out while building up… that is what we are looking to do…

I will have to post on that when I am not trying to sell some cars…

  3. Steven, your simplechurch site sounds really interesting. Sounds like a very cool idea.

This is the kind of thing that gets you all riled up, isn’t it Matt? Making church simpler and smaller and less of a production. :)
