Lie with integrity…
I sold a vehicle to a gentleman yesterday that explained to me that everyone hates car salesmen, and that because of this he will not give me a good survey. After several minutes of discussion where he repeatedly told me that this was the best car buying experience that he had ever had (but still refusing to budge on the survey), he agreed that he would throw the survey out when it came. I am taking a chance on this one, which may or may not come back to bite me, but I am still within the top ten of the group in surveys, and I believe that I can absorb one bad one if he does not honor our agreement.
It is sad to me how often I hear stories about how people have been treated in the past by car dealerships. What is even sadder to me is the fact that our reputation is deserved. While there are a decent amount of honest “sales consultants” out there, there are a great deal of shady, slick ones as well.
This past weekend at our Saturday morning sales meeting we were encouraged to “lie with integrity”.
I will write that again: Lie with integrity…
It took everything that I had in me to keep from vomiting right then and there.
We were then told how it was ok to lie if everyone knew it was a lie, and if we were “helping them better their life with a new car” it was fine.
I don’t know about you, but if a salesman lies to me, whether it is to “better my life” or not, I am done with him.
With that being said, March is shaping up nicely for me… I have sold five cars in five days, bringing my total to seven out for the month, and with plenty of time left to sell. I am shooting for fifteen this month (so get in here!), which is still very doable as long as my appointments show, and all goes well credit wise.
For those of you that are praying for me, please pray for balance and rest (I am exhausted right now, too many consecutive 12+ hour days), and continued success. Please also pray for the team as we gather on friday afternoon to start hashing out specifics…

The good news, lawyers have an even worse reputation than car sales people.
I don’t care for generalized images. I stand for myself and on my own. I build my own reputation and I am honest, diligent and trustworthy. If a customer is smart, he or she gives me a chance to surprise him/her positively. If a customer is stupid, and therefore cannot give me this opportunity of proof, I don’t care, because I refuse to deal with stupid people. As I already said. YOU CANNOT FIX STUPID.
Since my averages need to be a little higher than yours, I have to sat my March sucks so far. I am sitting at 13 delivered and my goal; of 25 is far away. I will give it a good push, but I will mainly build up a nice order bank for April.
I am not going to pray for you but I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Keep up the good spirit. You can make the difference!

wow, lie with integrity. That is an interesting concept to stomach.
By the way, you can love my husband. I’m woman enough to deal with that!
just so you know, he was mine before he was yours…
having 13 cars out and calling it a bad month speaks volumes about the difference in the sales of bmws and fords right now. with my 7 out, I am on the top of our board… (our commercial guy has 24 out, but that is all fleet and commecial)… and we are still a top five dealer in the baltimore washington area….
ford needs to get its act together
my month just got better. I sold 4 cars today and have 4 appointments for tomorrow.
As someone said :” Its not over until the fat lady sings!”

I hate buying a car simply because you have to deal with a salesman. I wish there were more like you out there! We did find a good guy and we bought a car that I absolutely love so I’m happy now but what a nightmare!
I posted about our experience last month. You can read it here if you want: http://momlovesbeingathome.wordpress.com/?s=car+salesman
