Follow who?

with 2 comments

Lately I have been haunted by something I read somewhere (I know that is helpful). It has been bouncing around my head for a few weeks now, and to be honest it is quite intimidating…

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:1

Paul told the Corinthians to follow his example… in other versions he told them to imitate him.

That is heavy.

If you ever find yourself in need of a hair cut, and you are in the vicinity of the Hair Cuttery at the Harford Mall, in Bel-Air, Md… you don’t need a hair cut bad enough to get it cut there.

I miss my barber shop in Jersey…

Remembering Jerry…

with 6 comments

I have been trying to decide what to, or even if I should post something on the passing of Jerry Falwell. I don’t know that I could post something that would even come close to what James Watkins posted on Think Christian.

Read this, and tell me what you think…

Haul sixteen tons, what do you get…

without comments

This weekend we packed my grandmother’s antiques store. Two days work gave us two 26 foot u-haul trucks, a 16 foot trailer, two pick-up trucks, and a suburban full of stuff that is headed to auction. My friend Luke is my new hero for coming down to help us finish up today.

That would have been a full weekend for any mere mortal… but we are not mere mortals, so after loading everything up, we then proceeded to dig up our backyard and fix our septic system which picked the most opportune moment to have issues.

I am ready to head back to work, just so I can recuperate from this weekend…

If I dug a hole in my back yard, I believe that I might upset some people.

Instead of going to China, I would end up off the coast of Australia… all that ocean has to go somewhere!

Where would you end up?

Thanks to Mom Loves Being at Home for this one

Dreaming church…

with 4 comments

This morning I hit panera with my friend Joel.

It was good to hang out, connect, and dream about church. What church can be. What it should be, and to talk a little bit about the city of Baltimore and her needs.

Last weekend I sold a car to a teacher from Baltimore.

He and I spent some time talking about his experience, and what he has seen in his time here. He told me about 13 and 14 year old fifth graders that are in school because they are forced to be. He told me about parent-teacher nights that only see three people showing up, two of which were grandparents. He told me about a PTA that consists of five people.
