All on a midsummers eve…
Last night was another good time spent down in Mount Vernon for another conversation on life and spirituality…
As we spoke about the spiritual side of music, eventually spending some time singing and soaking in the night, I could not help but be captivated by the juxtaposition that is Baltimore. Sitting in the park at Mount Vernon Place, listening to the fountains behind me, the big, beautiful row-homes on one side, the Peabody Conservatory on the other, people hanging out on the park benches, two girls making out behind us, and a homeless man camping out a little bit further ahead of us… Down the street from this affluent area of the city you have the Jail and Greenmount Ave, one of the rougher streets of the city.
One of the guys that joins us each time we gather sang about teaching people to love…
Later that night we sang Amazing Grace (with an Irish twist)…
Even later that night two more people were shot to death (for those of you keeping score, that is 213 for the year)…
Oh that we might teach them how to love…

I felt the same way. I missed the discussion on art, I heard it went great. This past Tuesday was my favorite night in Baltimore so far. I can’t wait for the next one. Btw, it starts at 7:00 in case you forgot.
