Jesus Wept…

Last night as I was doing my evening reading the scripture passages broke my heart…

Streams of tears flow from my eyes,
for your law is not obeyed.

Psalm 119:136

1 I will sing for the one I love
a song about his vineyard:
My loved one had a vineyard
on a fertile hillside.

2 He dug it up and cleared it of stones
and planted it with the choicest vines.
He built a watchtower in it
and cut out a winepress as well.
Then he looked for a crop of good grapes,
but it yielded only bad fruit.

3 “Now you dwellers in Jerusalem and people of Judah,
judge between me and my vineyard.

4 What more could have been done for my vineyard
than I have done for it?
When I looked for good grapes,
why did it yield only bad?

Isaiah 5

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.

Luke 13:34

As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it

Luke 19:41

Reading through this I could not help but think of Baltimore, and how God must grieve for her as well.
The murder rate (252 Victims to date), the drug problem, the broken families…

Jesus wept over Jerusalem, I know that he must be weeping over our city as well.

One Response to “Jesus Wept…”

  1. “Then I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God; prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband” Rev. 21:2

Like MLK said, it’s time to talk about a new Philadelphia, a new Atlanta, and I’d add, a new Baltimore.

“Then I saw the Holy City, the new Baltimore, coming down out of heaven from God”
