Again with the AFA
A while back I posted about the American Family Association’s boycott of Ford Automobiles. Well, the AFA, rather than admitting that they are wrong about their facts, is taking credit for the fact that Ford sales have been declining (because, ya know, it has to be the boycott… it CAN’T possibly be the economy, can it?), and would like to offer those of us who work for a Ford dealership a chance to end the boycott. This is what they have sent us:
A Word to Dealers of Ford Branded Automobiles
Many of you have contacted us asking what you can do to help end the boycott. We have asked Ford to remain neutral in the culture war — that is, to neither support nor oppose controversial issues such as the homosexual agenda, homosexual publications and same-sex marriage. Ford thus far has refused to adopt such a policy.
The largest retailer in the world — Wal-Mart — has adopted a policy of neutrality in the culture war. Their policy is to neither support nor oppose controversial issues. Surely if the world’s largest retailer can adopt a policy of neutrality, Ford can do the same.
Since the boycott began in March 2006, Ford sales have gone down in 18 of those 21 months, up in two months, and remained flat in one month. Not all of those lost sales are due to the boycott. But a significant number of them are.
You can help bring this boycott to an end by contacting Ford’s corporate offices and asking that Ford adopt a policy of neutrality. The business of Ford should be building better automobiles, not supporting a political and social issue.
Surely Ford will make supporting their dealers a higher priority than supporting a particular lifestyle.
(If you are not a Ford dealer, please print and mail a copy of this page to your area Ford dealer.)
In my former post I sent a letter to the AFA, never to receive a response. The lack of response leads me to believe that the AFA is less concerned with helping fellow Christians who are concerned about their actions understand what they are doing than keeping their political interests in the forefront so that their end of the year giving will be up.
I wonder what the American Family Association will do for the families of people who work for Ford when their jobs are lost.
Will we be written off as heretics, reaping our reward?
Will we be forgotten about as the AFA finds another hot button issue to pursue in the name of donations?
Father forgive us…

Snoop,
For a few classes our Theology Prof had as discuss Jesus and Politics. The discussion and investigation was fascinating and provocative.
This post is right in line with Jesus’ own confrontation with dark forces hindering the growth of the kingdom on earth.
Your message is clear. Forgiveness is a must and we all can just hope eyes are opened to Christ’s gospel.
